Your Course in a Nutshell

This course follows on from my first course - Photo Restoration for Beginners, using GIMP. By now you will have acquired the basic skills to tackle basic and intermediate restorations and even add colour to simple black and white photos. In this follow up course, we will dive deeper into the mechanics of each tool and explore more complex ways and techniques to restore and colourise even the most challenging of pictures.

About the Course

So far we have looked at each tool and got a basic understanding of its mechanics without deeply exploring each tool settings. Now we are going to learn about each tool more in-depth and combine different tools in each tutorial from the beginning!

We will also learn about textures, and how professional photo restorers often use external images to improve their work. Furthermore we will learn about creating palettes for clothing, including the tricky flowery fabrics often present in old photography!

As in the previous course we will work on each skill to gradually increasing your confidence and competence one photo at a time!

We will not use Facebook in this course, but will instead take advantage of this platform forum facilities and you will be encouraged to share your work and participate in discussions.

By the end of this course, you will be fully competent with the tools used in GIMP to restore images, and have a deep understanding on how to correct and fix your own images, plus an advanced understanding of photo colourisation.
